| ONE: CHITO BEACH RESORT Come enjoy the quiet and peaceful lifestyle of the rugged, remote NW coastline. Some folks prefer to just rest at their cabin watching the bald eagles, whales, seals, sea lions, sea otters, river otters and hundreds of coastal bird species. Starting a few feet from your cabin door, the beaches stretch for miles. Exploring tide pools, making sand castles, looking for agates and fossils, flying kites, or just plain 'ole walking the beach can become a relaxing daily routine. TWO: CAPE FLATTERY (Half Day Trip) The Cape is the most northwest point of the continental U.S. Truly a spiritual place! Observation decks look into sea caves on the north and south side of the Cape. The deck at the tip looks out to the lighthouse on Tatoosh Island and the opening of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Best marine wildlife observation point in Washington! THREE: SHI SHI BEACH - NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY (All Day Trip) The south end of Shi Shi, Point of Arches, is one of the most photographed coastal spots of Olympic National Park. Absolutely the best tide pools on the West Coast! Requires a 2 mile hike one-way. FOUR: CAPE ALAVA-SAND POINT TRIANGLE HIKE (All Day Trip) From Lake Ozette, two 3-mile hikes lead to Cape Alava and Sand Point. A 3-mile ocean leg may be added at low tide to create a 9-mile loop back to your car. Cape Alava was the site of an ancient Ozette (Makah) Indian village. The artifacts found there are on display at the beautiful museum in Neah Bay. You will pass fifty-four petroglyphs on the ocean leg of the hike. FIVE: HOH RAIN FOREST (All Day Trip) The HOH gives the feeling of being in a magical prehistoric place. Eat lunch in Forks. SIX: OTHER WONDERFUL PLACES (Under One Hour Drive) Hobuck Beach is a sandy beach you can drive to south of Neah Bay. Slip Point in Clallam Bay has great tidepools. LaPush, the Quileute Reservation sits on First Beach. Second and Third Beaches, along with Rialto Beach are short hikes from your car. The mouth of the Hoko River is beautiful!<BR> Lake Crescent, Marymere Waterfall, Spruce Railroad Trail, Lake Pleasant (good swimming), Wildlife & Fishing Charter Boats, Kayak Rentals, River Rafting Trips, Bird- Watching Tours, shopping local Art Shops and much more. SEVEN & EIGHT: HOT SPRINGS (Day Trip) Olympic Hot Springs is an hour's hike to wilderness natural pools, and Sol Duc Hot Springs is a fun resort with both hot pools and a cold-water swimming pool. Salmon-Jumping Cascades and Sol Duc waterfall are spectacular! Other Attractions may be found by visiting www.sekiu.com |
